The next dot we get at least 10 chapters of the Bible dedicated to. In our study, Abram’s stories will be divided into 2 different chapters with multiple days. There will be highs and lows, twists and turns, but one thing will always remain throughout - God’s faithfulness.
Day 1: Read Genesis 12:1-9
What was Abraham supposed to separate from?
How old was Abram when he left?
Who/what did Abram take with him?
What places are named?
What promises did God make to Abram?
Read Genesis 12:10-20
Because of a __________ Abram traveled to ___________. Up to this point, we have seen Abram trust God. He left what he knew and went where God called him. He received God’s promise, building an altar to worship Him. Now that Abram is in Egypt though, we see the shift from the Tree of Life to the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
What doesn’t Abram trust God with?
How does he take matters into his own hands, relying on his wisdom of good and evil?
How did this affect him as well as other people?
Deeper Reflection Question:
What did this teach me about God?
What did this teach me about people (or myself)?
What should I do in response to this?
Who can I tell about what God is teaching me?
Instead of a devotional let's self-reflect:
What did I do recently that was based out of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil?
How did this decision affect me and others?
