CDJ Chapter Three - Connecting Dots 1-10

CHAPTER Three

Connecting Dots 1-10

As we saw in the previous reading God had a plan for the brokenness of mankind. The beauty of Jesus’ genealogy is the fact that it is the outline for the story of how He accomplishes salvation. He had a plan all along and has given us the story of how He lovingly carries it out.

We don’t get to know much about the next few people, but there are 2 that have some intriguing comments. Take a look:

Read Genesis 5

In Genesis 3:22 God states “Since man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil, he must not…live forever.” (CSB)

Take note of the age range that each of these men lived. Who was the oldest? Who was the youngest?

What was the vast age range in which they bore their first child?

Let’s look into the 2 people who had little extra written about them:

Enoch was considered the youngest of the group, but not because he died. What happened to him?

What do you think that means?

Why do you think that happened?

Note his relationship to the oldest and second oldest listed. Do you think there’s any correlation to this?

The extra statement included with Lamech was said by him, but not about him. Who was it about?

What verse of the Bible was he referring to?

Who was he hoping that his son would be?

How often do you think people wondered if their child would be the savior?

Deeper Reflection Question:

What did this teach me about God?

What did this teach me about people (or myself)?

What should I do in response to this?

Who can I tell about what God is teaching me?
