Now let’s start connecting! We will use Luke’s list to get the full picture of Jesus’ genealogy, but we will use Matthew’s example of chronological order, making our first dot Adam.
Adam’s story is pretty intense from the very beginning. From creation to the fall to starting a family to the murder of his son, his story doesn’t fail to be full of the ups and downs of life. As you read, I ask that you allow yourself to get into Adam’s shoes. Feel what’s going on in these verses through his eyes.
Read Genesis 1:26-31 & 2:8-9,15-24
What are the things God said about man?
What things did Adam do/was supposed to do?
What was Adam NOT supposed to do?
What things did God give to Adam?
Deeper Reflection Question:
What did this teach me about God?
What did this teach me about people (or myself)?
What should I do in response to this?
Who can I tell about what God is teaching me?
